Generic

Description

This is the template to use when you can't find a design pattern to fit your needs. It is a WebQuest in the most general sense.

Instructional Purpose

The generic template captures the most general model of what a WebQuest is. Each of the parts of the WebQuest (Introduction, Task, etc.) are described without any reference to a particular content area or type of learner outcome.

Applicability

This pattern applies to any content that is WebQuestable: learning that requires higher level thinking (e.g., problem solving, synthesis, analysis, creativity).

Limitations

The WebQuest model (and this pattern) shouldn't be used for content that is primarily procedural (e.g., how to create a PowerPoint presentation) or factual (e.g., the capitals of the 50 states).
