Introduction
[You're reading X this month, but do you really understand all that's going on? We're going to use the Web to delve more deeply into X and get a better handle on it!] Task
[Assign a task that will require the students to read and understand information about the setting of the work. Here are some possibilities:]
- Investigate how historically accurate the work was
- Create a newspaper from that setting
- Design an event that would take place within this setting
- Turn the written descriptions in the book into some other form: poster; diorama; travel brochure; etc.
- Create want ads for the kinds of jobs available at that time
- Create a scrapbook for the characters in which you simulate photos and newspaper clippings of the times
[In most cases, you won't want to give your learners these choices. Instead, pick one or two and find good links to support the students' efforts. The more choices you give the students, the more work you'll need to do to find links and scaffold and evaluate what they produce.]Process
- Begin by reading these sites to get a basic grounding in this setting.
- (Optional)Divide into work groups that specialize in different aspects of this setting and study these more focused links.
- Come together and share what you've learned.
- Work together to design your final product (based on the task)
Evaluation
Describe to the learners how their performance will be evaluated. Specify whether there will be a common grade for group work vs. individual grades. You may want to have separate rubrics for individual and group work.

Conclusion
Put a few sentences here that summarize what they will have accomplished or learned by completing this activity or lesson.
You might also include some rhetorical questions or additional links to encourage them to extend their thinking into other content beyond this lesson. To foster the habit of lifelong learning, give them links to additional information here that they can pursue on their own.
