Introduction
[Begin with the concise statement introducing the concept, such as What is _ _ _ _ _? or What does - - - - mean to you? Tell the learners that they will explore examples of this concept to gain a great understanding and demonstrate this understanding.] Task
[Describe the task as being divided into two stages: First, students will study a number of resources and examples and will tease out what these examples have in common to arrive at a definition. Then, with that new understanding, students will demonstrate their understanding by creating a product or activity such as a series of stamps, an interview, a waxless museum of a best representative. Don't list the steps that students will go through to get to the end point. That belongs in the Process section.] Process
- Provide a short list of examples or resources of the concept being studied. Have the students read and investigate them.
- Discuss in class, their thoughts and preliminary conclusions. Use a graphic organizer to help student discern the critical attributes of the concept.
- Provide a longer list of examples and have learners/groups of learners divide the task of identifying common attributes and threads. Scaffold this by providing a graphic organizer to guide their reading and decision making.
- Have a class discussion debriefing the analysis and consolidating any discrepancies in analyses from different learners.
- Student will create a product or activity that demonstrates their understanding of the concept. Scaffold as appropriate.
Evaluation
Describe to the learners how their performance will be evaluated. Specify whether there will be a common grade for group work vs. individual grades. You may want to have separate rubrics for individual and group work.

Conclusion
Put a few sentences here that summarize what they will have accomplished or learned by completing this activity or lesson.
You might also include some rhetorical questions or additional links to encourage them to extend their thinking into other content beyond this lesson. To foster the habit of lifelong learning, give them links to additional information here that they can pursue on their own.
